Word of Advice

Earlier this week I was chatting with a guy in my bartending class. He asked how old I was, and I told him.

He said: "You look really good for 31!"

I thought: "I bet you're single!"

This guy is all of 29, so it's not like there's a huge age gap. The thing is, he meant it as a compliment, and I knew that, but it still irritated the shit out of me.

Here's some free advice for all sweet-but-simple men who wish to make a good impression on a lady:

Never qualify a compliment
.

Here are some better ways to express the same sentiment:

"Wow, I would have guessed much younger!"
"No way! I thought you were 25."
"Are you serious? You don't look a day over 19."

You get the idea. Now get out there and start spewing sincere, unqualified compliments at members of the fairer sex and see how much more ass you get!

You're welcome.

Amen! At 35 I'm now being treated like I've entered cougar territory. Annoying. They have no idea how fast they are going to be me when they are 25.
